8 Benefits of Yoga

For  many taking  their first yoga class can be intimidating, especially when you aren't sure what's in it for you.  You may wonder what benefits will practicing yoga really do for you that you can't get from a different form of exercise, workout or physical activity? 

Below are what I feel my I've gained from my yoga practice: 
  1. Builds self confidence.
  2. Can be done nearly anywhere.
  3. The practice of yoga can bring immediate attention to proper breathing.
  4. Once you are able to naturally focus on your breath, yoga helps reduce and /or eliminate unhealthy stress.
  5. Yoga brings more awareness to your posture, both standing and sitting; a great added benefit if you sit at a desk for long periods of time hunched over a computer or phone.
  6. For the most part yoga is a fairly inexpensive  or low cost activity.  
  7. Yoga allows you to become more mindful.
  8. Yoga builds a leaner and stronger body.
